Went here the other night, a tiny issue had arise. Everything was handled professionally & taken care of. Our server was a sweet old lady and she definitely gave me 5star “Nona vibes.” She was making sure we were comfortable and just honestly going out of her way & she didn’t even need to. Then we met the owner and Jeff’s an awesome guy. He comped our truffle fries (which by the way are delicious, highly recommend.) customer service was top tier. The food really does speak for itself. My Husband and I enjoyed it, we had a pressing engagement we had to get to so we only had time to order appetizers. However judging off the two starters that we ordered We can’t wait to come back to enjoy an actual entree from here. I already know it’s gonna be delicious. Clean, Old school Portraits on the wall , nice & relaxed atmosphere & To which I assume is “old Italia vibe.” I don’t drink alcohol ,but they have a wonderful selection of wine ? . Parking is available shared with other businesses in the plaza , of course there’s always street parking too. Anyways check this business out, Enjoy !

More or less a disappointing experience.

Vibe: extremely loud as if you are in a club. we could barely hear or understand our server and had to shout to order our meal. It feels like they are going for high end, fine Italian dining, but that is not what you will get. It’s set up like a chain in terms of decor and furniture. We walked past and were hoping to sit on the patio, but we’re denied because they closed the patio before they stopped taking tables.

Food: very overpriced. The clam pasta we ordered was a watery mess and the noodles were beyond undercooked (I enjoy an al dente noodle). A simple Caesar salad is almost $20 and then additional $10 just to add chicken. no substitutions or modifications are allowed on any items. Again, feels like fine dining, but the quality and atmosphere just missed the mark. We ordered the truffle fries which is one potato turned into wedges and fried for $17 - the inside was so over done it had the texture of mashed potatoes.

They have a full bar, but we could only order two cocktails that were $17 each. I ordered a beer came in a can and was fairly warm.

Either the prices need to match the food and atmosphere or the food and atmosphere need to be elevated. $45 per person and we walked out disappointed.

Tavola Nostra Pizzeria e Cucina is a wonderful Italian restaurant with a focus on wood fired pizza. The menu features two different pizza styles with a combination of classic and modern toppings. You can even sit at the bar and watch the chefs bake each pizza in their wood fire oven.

Aside from pizza you’ll find authentic pasta dishes, meatballs, fresh large-portioned salads, and some of the best calamari around (non-greasy nor over fried). And the wine selection includes wines from both Italy and California.

Love this gem tucked away in the heart of Hillcrest. The Italian cuisine is fantastic and never disappoints. Please forgive me if I misspell it but the margherita pizza is top notch and doesn't get any better in my opinion. Service is very attentive and always makes sure your needs are met. The atmosphere is comfortable and pleasing. Don't forget the wine, and if you're not a connoisseur don't worry they'll recommend a nice house wine. A must go!

Tavola in Hillcrest is, without a doubt, the best Italian restaurant in San Diego. The pizza is exceptional—crispy, flavorful, and perfectly topped. The pinsa is equally impressive, with a unique texture and taste that's hard to find elsewhere. The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it a fantastic spot for a meal. Highly recommend for anyone craving top-notch Italian cuisine!

I’m never the type to write reviews BUT this place is FANTASTIC. The most authentic Italian food I’ve ever had in San Diego. Housemade pizza sauce and phenomenal pastas. HIGHLY recommend the pesto pasta, and the pizza was fantastic as well. You can’t go wrong with anything they serve. The owner Jeff made sure my girlfriend and I had the best food experience
